Celebrity Chef Information
The celebrity chefs featured at this year’s show were Jamie and Bobby Deen! The brothers served up two cooking presentations in Rupp Arena and definitely kept the crowd in happy, humorous and hungry spirits.
Bobby, Jamie and their mother, Paula, founded a small Savannah, Ga. catering business known for delivering “lunch-and-love-in-a-bag.” This family business grew into one of Savannah’s most beloved restaurants known as The Lady & Sons.
Once The Lady & Sons was firmly established, Bobby and Jamie began appearing on their mother’s cooking shows on the Food Network. Soon, the brothers launched their own show on the network, “Road Tasted.” The show featured Bobby and Jamie traveling across America in search of love-infused cooking. The show was a hit on the network and expanded the network’s audience to a newer and younger crowd.
The Deen brothers have published four books since 2007 called “The Deen Bros. Cookbook Recipes from the Road,” “Ya’ll Come Eat,” “Take it Easy” and “Get Fired Up.” They also published four stand-alone magazines in 2010 and have plans for additional issues.
It is safe to say the Deen family has come a long way since “lunch-and-love-in-a-bag.” In addition to the restaurants, cooking shows and publishing ventures, the family has expanded business with a recent line of spices, barbeque sauces and t-shirts. All items are sold at the Paula Deen Store and PaulaDeen.com.
